SHOULD STUDENTS HAVE PART-TIME JOB?

Every day, after studying at school, I come back to the dorm. Every month, I receive money from my parents. My students’ life seems to be very boring. I like doing something more challenging and I want to earn my own money. Therefore, I applied for a part-time job last month. Many people say that student like me should not do the part-time job while they are studying because it can distract the student’s attention away from their studies. However there are many benefits of doing part-time job so why don’t we find a suitable one?

Nowadays, many students do part-time job while they are studying. Instead of staying at the dorm, doing nothing useful, why don’t we spend a little free time do part-time job? It can help you so much.
First, doing part-time job helps cultivate student’s independence. Imagine that, every Saturday and Sunday, you spend from 3 to 6 hours to work as a waitress in a small restaurant and after that you can earn from 500 to 700 thousand dong. With this money, you can use to pay for tuition, buy some books you like, buy your favorite food you want or take part in art club you love…  It is so great! Isn’t it? Moreover, you can have a good lesson about the value of money you have earned and how to use money carefully and thrifty. If you don’t have a part-time job, whenever you run out of money, you have to ask your parents give you some. It is not good for you and you may become economic burdens of your parents.

If you just study well all things presented in books, in the internet… is it enough?
Second, part-time job can help students apply their knowledge in practice. For example, you are studying in foreign of faculty and you are working in an English- talk café shop. What will you gain? It is not only the money you can earn but also the advance you get in your studying. You have many chances to practice speaking English to people who are willing to talk even foreigners. All of us know that, the more English we talk, the more improving we get. Isn’t it the effective way to apply your knowledge in practice?

Finally, part-time job experience prepares students for their future job.  As usual, whenever you apply for a job, the first question of the manager is that “do you have any experience?”  Therefore, it is very important for you to have some experience which is related to our future career. The more experience we have, the more opportunities we get the job. It is very necessary for us on getting promotion in the future career.

Summary, in my opinion, students should have part-time job because it is a necessary condition for us to cultivate independence, apply their knowledge in practice and prepare them psychologically for the future job.

Da Lat-my hometown and Ha Noi

I enjoy walking along the street under the shadow of pine trees looking at the old buildings in my hometown- Da Lat. However, when I moved to Ha Noi 3 years ago for studying I did not have the same experience like I had in Da Lat. They are quiet different but also similar in ways, especially the atmosphere and ancient architectures.

First, I want to mention about the similarities. If Da Lat has Xuan Huong Lake which is look like a lovely and charming girl, Ha Noi has Hoan Kiem Lake become a legend in our hictory. Both of them are mentioned a lot especially in poem, music and art. In both places, you can find a lot of beautiful streets with many tall trees. You can sit down on the green grass cover and enjoy the fresh air and watch people walking through the streets. Moreover, you can see many ancient buildings not only in Da Lat but also in Ha Noi. All of them were built long time ago but they can remains their beauty well. A lot of ancient roofs, old walls make them mysterious castle in a fairy tale. It is really wonderful. Isn’t it? The weather in Ha Noi and Da Lat are quiet the same. They are always cool. That makes us very comfortable. Sometimes, there are some soft rains. They is not too heavy but strong enough to clean all things on the streets. When it rains, I miss Da Lat so much, I miss my wonderful childhood. Whenever it rained, my friends and I still walked along street sang our favorite songs together.

Second, besides the similarities, Da Lat and Ha Noi are very different. Da Lat has many homes built of wood, many grand villas built by French architect during the early part of the century. While in the center of Ha Noi, there are so many high buildings that make Ha Noi more modern than Da Lat. Streets in Da Lat is quieter, it hardly has traffic jams. Whereas, streets in Ha Noi are always crowded, especially at the rush hour, the vehicles are used too much; therefore it is very difficult to get out of the traffic jams. Moreover, streets in Ha Noi are always bright because of the systems of the light and the lights of the stores on 2 ides of the streets. The people are quiet different. While people in Da Lat are shy and a little traditional, they usually wear skirts and paints and may be they use shawl to remains warmness. On the one hand, people in Ha Noi are more active and more modern, especially teenagers. They can walk a long the street freely hand in hand with their girlfriend or boyfriend with short dresses. It is ok and they don’t care about the others. When I see them, I miss Da Lat very much. My hometown-where I was born have more traditional life.

Da Lat and Ha Noi are very different in appearance and culture, but they are also similar because they are both beautiful place where visitors like spending their holiday.

I NOW AND THE PERSON I USED TO BE 10 YEARS AGO

A Princess becomes an ugly girl. I now and the person I used to be 10 years ago is very different but similar in some ways, especially in my character.

First, I want to talk about the similar in my character. I was a stubborn and lazy girl. And now nothing changes in it. I still get up very late every morning if I don’t have to go to school. My mother always said that “ you are so lazy”; however, I don’t care about it. I still stay up late to watch football match  instead of doing my homework… I still do nothing whenever I make mistakes. Of course, I don’t say how sorry I am because saying sorry is the most difficult thing to do. I know that it is not good; therefore, I try my best to avoid doing something wrong. Now, I am still a lazy and stubborn girl and I don't care about it.
I am not only a stubborn and lazy girl but also a ugly one. The more I am looking for my face at the mirror, the more stupid and ugly I find. Oh my God, everything has been changed rapidly. I used to be a princess but now, I am an ugly girl. I  now look like a tree which has not watered for a long time. My eyes are wearing a pair of thick glasses. May be because I read too many books and don’t use enough light. My big and sloe-eyed has been replaced for one eyelid ones. When I smile, it is completely closed. The pricess with the smooth and white skin had disappeared forever and now I am having dark skin. I used to be a quiet fat girl but now I am so thin that my friends can not recognize me in my family’s photos 10 years ago. They sometimes joke me that I may be blown away by the wind or I am may be so poor that I have no food to eat. I don’t say any thing because it is just a kidding. I now have stupid and ugly face, dark skin and one eyelid eyes. Many things have changed, fortunately, it is just my appearance. I do not care about it any more as long as  I am still myself.

There are many changes of mine in 10 years. May be it is good or not. However, I am not surprise and I don't think it is important . Every body all over is born then they grow up and then they get older. A lot of things changed in their life. But it is important that they are always themselves not the others one. Everything has to change to exist and develop.

SHOULD PARENTS SPANK THEIR CHILDREN?

“Get out of this house; I don’t want to see you anymore!” I’m sorry Mom; it is not my fault!” the little girl burst into tear and slowly got out of that house. And she has been standing in front of her house until now. When I was a child, whenever I make small mistake or do something wrong; my parents spanked me. And now, that punishment is used popularly in many countries not only in developing countries but also in developed countries. But I think it is not an effective method to educate our children and it should not be used anymore.

First, spanking our children can make relationship between parents and their children worse. If children do something wrong, her parents instead of giving them advice how to do it better; they spank them or use some forms of punishment to them. The children will scare and they don’t want to do it again they will just keep silent. Of course, they don’t want to share their feelings and they just want to keep away from their parents in order to avoid punishing. Moreover, they may become stubborn. Sometimes, parents spank their children without suitable reasons. After hard working, they feel stress and they get angry with everything and children. That makes children to be hurt so it is the main reason that create distance between parents and children. Is spanking children good way to educate them? It is completely wrong way; however, more and more people are using it as the normal punishment.

Second, spanking children can also affect to physical and mental development of children. According to National Family Violence Surveys, over 90% of parents use some forms of punishment to children and 39% of all children who are under  2 years old has been spanked at least one every week. Spanking our children can lead to emotional problem in the future because children who are spanked even occasionally are low self-esteem and it can make them lack of confident. They just want to be alone and keep away from everything or they can get angry or upset at another and it makes children more and more violent. Many parents use corporal punishment or they reluctantly spank to force their children follow them. May be parents think that spanking makes their children unforgettable; therefore, their children will not make mistakes again. However, it is a very dangerous method because  they will not realize the mistakes, they don’t care about it and they can repeat it again and again.  On the whole, spanking children is not good way to make them realize what is right or wrong because it may affect to children’s growth.

Parents should sit down next to their children to listen to their aspirations and dreams; show them what they should or should not.Don’t use spanking as the best solution to educate children. It is not the best method to educate their children.

ELECTRICLAMP

Introduction: many people say that, at the same time science is developing, it is also threatening our peace and civilization. There are many questions: is it useful or harmful for us? What is it benefit…and so on. No one can have the right answer for these questions. And we all know that a lot of inventions are very important to our life. One of them is electric lamp.

Body 1:  first, electric lamp played an important part in social medicine many years ago.
Before the invention of electric lamp, a lot of people died because there wasn’t enough light at night for performing surgery. At that time, all surgeries were performed in daylight for there wasn’t enough modern equipment and light at night. There were many serious accidents which needed performing urgent surgery; however, all victims had to wait until daylight. Therefore, lots of people died before going to the hospital to perform a surgery. With the invention of the electric lamp, many people were saved not only at daylight but also at night. So electric lamp is a very important invention to social medicine.

Body 2: second, electric lamp also played an important part in improving poor farmers’ living standard. At that time, every body spent all their time working very hard in daylight; however, they couldn’t earn enough money to support their life. Therefore, they had to spend time doing something else at night but they don’t have enough light. When electric lamp was invented, the poor have some chances to do some small jobs to improve their life such as: sewing clothes, closed shoes… if there wasn’t enough light, they couldn’t do anything like that to support their life. With a little money, they could buy more food, more medicine… that made them live easily and easily. Moreover, electric lamp could help people to increase crop productivity by hunting insects, stimulating of fruit ripening… all of them showed that electric lamp is very important on improving poor farmers’ living standard.

PHUOC LONG CHURCH

Phuoc long church is the most famous church in my hometown. It was designed by a French architect in 1960 and 5 years after, it was officially opened. From there, thousands of people visit it every year.

Last week was the first time I have visited the church. My first impression was its architecture. Though it was built many years ago, it still remained its beauty. All the walls were made by stone which were painted in mossy green; therefore, it was a little ancient. The building included 3 rows of room, 40 windows and 7 doors. 7 doors were all made by wood. Each of them was about 2 meters wide and 3 meters high. It was glued by a lot of bright slap of stone. 40 windows were cut into the walls and made by wood. Around the church there were many tall trees. They had luxuriant and thick foliage. Just a little light can go through these foliage. It was shining, the birds were singing… when I stood under them, I felt as if I was in heaven on earth. I didn’t scare anything, I just felt comfortable and relax. At the top of the church, a big bell was hung and it rang every 30 minutes. It made the church more and more solemn.

The church attracted a lot of visitors every year. Thousands of people from my hometown and other provinces visit it each year especial at Christmas and Thanksgiving. At this time, the church was decorated carefully many days before with balloons, cards, lights and bells. In distance, it looked as a magnificent castle in fairy tale. Every one went there to pray for the happiness, prosperity and luckiness. After that, they wanted to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Although it was not the most beautiful church in Viet Nam, it attracted many people and it became the pride of people in my hometown.
When I have free time, I often go to this church for sitting on the chair after hard working. I find myself happy and comfortable.

YOU CAN LOSE ALMOST EVERYTHING EXCEPT YOUR BELIEF

A beggar can become a millionaire and a millionaire can become a beggar. It depends on you.I was born in a family with 4 people: my parents, my older brother and i. my father is a mathematics professor in a big university, my mother is a surgeon and my brother has just graduated from the university medical of Ho Chi Minh city and now he is going to work in a hospital like my mother. All my family’s members are very excellent; therefore, I try my best to study hard to become a good surgeon. However, my dream had stopped when I didn’t pass the examination in the university. It is the sock that I have never imagined.

I was a good student during my studying at primary school, secondary school and high school. I studied very well especial Math, Physic, Chemistry and English. I was always the best student in my class. I could do almost the test with the highest mark and everything wasn’t difficult to me. Moreover, I was the pride of my parents. I had dream to be a surgeon when I was a little child, so I studied very hard. Every day I spent time doing the exercises and tests to prepare carefully for the exam in the university. I was very confident and sure that I would become a new student the university medical of Ho Chi Minh City.

I failed the exam was the first sock in my life. During the exam, I found everything was so new that I didn’t do it effectively. I failed  the exam with only 19 marks. It was the first sock in my life. After the exam I was so ashamed and disappointed. I stayed at home by myself with the question “why and why” and said nothing. everything was broke up on my mind. I couldn’t understand why I failed the exam so when i closed my eyes, the exam appeared on my mind again and again and it repeated every night. " oh my God. If only i could have come back to the past, i had done the test well". i had no more chances.wasn't i? " what should i do?" i have no answer. I was born in a good conditional family, I didn’t have to do the household chores, I can do everything freely and I didn’t have to follow my parents in choosing school. My parents and my brother said nothing to me because they understood how ashamed I was. About 3 months after I failed the exam, my parents and my brother told me what I would do next. I kept silent. I was waiting for my parents’ angriness; however, my father smiled with me and said that: “ don’t worry, baby. Try your best and do it again. Everything will be alright. You can lose almost everything except your belief.” I cried. I couldn’t sleep that night to think about what my father said.” Everything will be OK. Try my best and do it again”. Many people who are crippled, mute, deaf... they try their best to succeed why don't I do like that? Of course I have enough ability to gain my dream. If i can't do it successfully at the first time, I will do it the second time and the third time... until I can gain it and I can hold everything in my hand.

Now, I am a 50-year-old- woman. I am a good surgeon in a big hospital in my husband’s hometown. My dream has been coming true until now because i had a lesson from my father that I can lose almost everything except my belief. Don’t lose your belief, try your best and do it again.

MY FATHER

I was born in a big family with 8 people. My parents have to work very hard to earn enough money for us to go to school, especial my father. He always gets up early and stays up late every day to give us the best thing he can.

My father is a hero in my heart. He is a very kind man dressed in army clothes. He has thick and bushy eyebrows, tanned and austere but lenient face, domed forehead and wide mouth. When he smiles, his eyes are light up. He always looks us with loving eyes full of hope and belief. His strong, large shoulders and his large back is a solid prop for us whenever and wherever. His rough hands contain warm love make us stronger and stronger. He will do everything he can to take of us with is love, so he is always the hero in my heart.

Furthermore, my father is the best teacher in my life. When I was a little stubborn child, he always spent his little spare time helping me with my studying, teaching me how to play the guitar well. When I grow up, he teaches me about the proper behavior, the honesty. His lessons make me happy and confident when I live far from him. He teaches me a lot of things to be a good, confident and useful people. I have learned many things from my best teacher which help me live independently, happily and successfully.
My father is not only my best teacher but also my close-friend. We have the same hobbies such as: watching football match, playing card and going fishing. I always share all my problems with him. We share my feelings after that we discuss together before making an important decision. I wish I were a child so that my close-friend would not get older. Therefore, I can stand behind him and I can be protected by him forever.

I can not imagine how I can live without my father because he is my dad, my best teacher and my close-friend. He plays an important part in my life. I hope that my father will be always healthy to live with us forever.
